Tight end Mercedes Lewis has signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears.


For the 40-year-old footballer, next season will be the 19th in his professional career.


Lewis spent last season in Chicago and played all 17 matches, including 4 starts. He is still considered one of the best blocking tight ends in the league.


The Bears` tight end corps also includes Cole Kmet and Gerald Everett.


Lewis could break Jason Witten`s record for most regular-season starts by a tight end. To do this, he must enter the field 4 more times.
