Former Vancouver tough guy Gino Odzick has died at the age of 52.


The cause of death was a heart attack. In 2014, the former NHL player developed an incurable disease - amyloidosis (a protein metabolism disorder). Its consequence is abnormal protein deposits in the heart.


Since doctors did not give him any guarantees, Odzhik decided to take part in testing experimental methods of treating the disease. He got better in 2017.
