The 2015 NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) winner and three-time Pro Bowl contestant Kam Newton has signed a one-year deal with the New England Patriots.
The contract of the 31-year-old quarterback is worth 7, 5 million dollars. Newton will have the difficult task of filling the gap in the ranks of the `patriots` after the departure of Tom Brady, who in the spring chose to join the Tampa Bay Bookers after 20 seasons and six titles with the Foxboro team.
Newton, 196, was named No. 1 in the 2011 Carolina Pentors Draft. He led the Panthers to the Super Bowl 50 in early 2016, but there the team lost to the Denver Broncos.
After that, however, the quarterback`s career took a turn for the worse, and in recent years he has often suffered from various injuries and attracted more attention with his eccentric style of dress than with his performances on the field, which led to his dismissal in March this year. In his career, Newton has 182 passes for touchdown against 108 intercepted passes.
